With Indonesia recordingrobust economic growth post-pandemic shadowed by global economic turbulence,Sampoerna collaborated with the Indonesian government and the community toaddress these challenges, such as by facilitating booster vaccinations for allSampoerna’s eligible employees in early February 2022, supporting theacceleration of national booster vaccinations. Additionally, Sampoerna alsoplayed an active role in the Business 20 (B20) through the Indonesia Chamber ofCommerce (KADIN) that presented a set of policy recommendations and communiqueto the G20 towards a sustainable global economy, while simultaneously continuedto fulfill its commitment to empowering MSMEs, the sector that serves as thebackbone of Indonesia’s economy.

Sampoerna’s socio-economiccommitment to MSME empowerment has been consistently delivered through twoflagship programs, the Sampoerna Entrepreneurship Training Center (SETC)with more than 67,000 business owners beneficiaries and the Sampoerna RetailCommunity (SRC) with 225,000 retailers nationwide, as of the end of 2022.

Furthermore, as one ofthe industry leaders, Sampoerna is a long-term investor in Indonesia with thelatest realization of a production facility for innovative smoke-free tobaccoproducts that was inaugurated in January 2023. The investment entails generatingeconomic value for stakeholders through research and development capability expansion,job opportunity creation for highly skilled workers, and purchase of localtobacco supplies through Partnership initiatives.

We have also beenintegrating our social and economic aspects in our holistic approach to answeringenvironmental challenges in the areas where weoperate, which had brought Sampoerna toachieve Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS), an international certificationfor our factories in Karawang and in Pasuruan.
